Psychology - Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

This program focuses on all aspects of human experience and behavior - from thinking and feeling to interactions with others. Students qualify both professionally-methodically and in social and practical competencies to independently care for patients of all ages in psychotherapy. The program first teaches a broad range of therapeutic procedures, which are later deepened in theory and practice. Students acquire the ability to comprehensively conduct clinical diagnostics and indicate appropriate treatment measures. They also learn to prepare psychotherapeutic reports and critically examine the effects of psychological impairments, for example on work ability. The ability for (self-)reflection is particularly encouraged: students adapt therapy processes to individual patient needs and continuously integrate quality assurance measures into their psychotherapeutic work. Through close collaboration with specialist clinics of the University Medical Center and other institutions in the region, students experience the institutional context of psychotherapeutic care early on.
