Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

Psychology as a science investigates how people experience, understand, and organize their personal lives in their social relationships and communities. Psychologists develop their insights from natural, social, and humanities-based thinking models and research approaches, using their life and practice-oriented knowledge to improve individual and social processes in families or other communities. The Bachelor's program in Psychology provides fundamental knowledge of psychological methods, psychological diagnostics, theories, and research findings, as well as introductory knowledge in the applied disciplines of the field. The focus of the study is on both the basic sciences (e.g., Biological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology) and the classical applied fields of psychology: Clinical Psychology and Health Sciences, Work and Organizational Psychology, and Educational Psychology. The program is closely aligned with the recommendations of the German Society for Psychology. Since February 2021, the Psychology program at the University of Potsdam has been professionally recognized according to the Psychotherapy Act and the Licensing Regulations. The B.Sc. Psychology program has been awarded the quality seal of the German Society for Psychology since July 2017.
