About the Program

Theology deals with the history and present of Christianity. It is divided into Biblical Theology (Old Testament and New Testament), Historical Theology (church history), Systematic Theology (dogmatics and ethics) and Practical Theology (religious education, preaching, pastoral care). Protestant Theology places particular emphasis on the Reformation and the theology of the Reformers as well as on the theology that was developed in modern times on the basis of the Reformation and on the history of the churches of the Reformation. At Osnabrück University, particular emphasis is placed on the study of foreign religions (Judaism, Islam), cooperation with Catholic theology and Islamic religious education and the examination of religious education and subject didactic issues.
