About the Program

The master's degree program Political Science reflects the focus of Bonn's political science academics on the political interdependencies between German, European and, ultimately, global politics. The program is built on the University's research tradition, which combines the perspectives of contemporary history, the history of political thought and institutional research with a practice-related analysis of real-world political processes. The degree program is designed to convey to students in-depth knowledge of the domestic and foreign policy of Germany and other countries of the West (Europe, North America) and Asia, addressing European integration along with the political thought and real-world elements underlying it and the theory and policies driving it. In addition, the degree program gives students thorough insight into political practice, including an internship during which they can practically apply acquired academic competences. Possible lines of work include journalism, public relations, media/communications industry, media consulting, parliaments, public authorities, public administration, industry and trade associations, political or other foundations, policy consulting, foreign service, international organizations, opinion polling, adult education, private economy, and academia.
