Physics

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Master thesis is an independent, scientific research work, which requires planning, dedication and teamwork of candidates, as well as a certain tolerance for handling obstacles and unexpected problems. The research activity primarily takes place in work groups (WG) at the department. An orientation phase serves for getting to know these WGs. However, the opportunity is also provided to perform research in external research groups and possibly at companies, naturally in coordination with the department. The Master's program in Physics prepares students for independent work as physicists in business, industry, scientific research institutes and public administration, as well as for a continuing doctorate program. Research activities at the department include astrophysics, biophysics and neurophysics, experimental and theoretical semiconductor physics, physics of complex systems, molecular solid bodies, surface physics, structural and technological research, and particle physics.
