The degree program Philosophy offers a research-oriented environment for students to deepen their knowledge of and specialize in the areas of history of philosophy and contemporary philosophy as well as in theoretical and practical philosophy. Students can develop an individual profile within broad thematic areas ranging from logic and epistemology to metaphysics and philosophy of religion, (applied) ethics, natural and cultural philosophy, aesthetics, philosophy of mind and philosophy of language. Students learn to put their acquired knowledge into the context of current theories and discourses in their fields and to critically question historical positions. Students benefit from a wide diversity and large number of professorships and their interdisciplinary relations, covering the entire spectrum of philosophical teaching and research.
