Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

At Saarland University, the study of philosophy is systematic, analytical, cooperative, and international. The Master's programme "Philosophy" is open to students of all disciplines, not just those with a Bachelor's degree in philosophy. The single-subject Master's programme offers considerable freedom for students to tailor their studies, including options to study the full breadth of the subject or select specialist areas, study at Saarland University or at partner universities abroad, and focus on pure philosophy or interdisciplinary approaches. The programme consists of 120 CP, with 21 CP for the Master's thesis, 27 CP for an individually designed elective window, and 72 CP for four philosophy modules. Graduates develop skills in clear and structured thinking, argument evaluation, and abstract reasoning, preparing them for careers in research, education, culture, politics, business, publishing, journalism, and consulting.
