About the Program

Nanosciences form one of the largest research focuses at the University of Hamburg and are among the most important research centers internationally. Nanosciences deal with the production, investigation, and application of functional structures and dimensions below about 100 nanometers (one nanometer corresponds to one millionth of a millimeter). In these size ranges, the properties of nanomaterials lead to innovative applications, e.g., in the areas of health, mobility, and energy.
