About the Program

This is a cooperative program between Martin Luther University (Institute of Music) and the Evangelical School of Church Music Halle. The program develops competencies in artistic and practical music skills, foundational knowledge in historical and systematic musicology and ethnomusicology, music didactic theories and models, mastery of basic scientific methods and work procedures, basic skills in planning and conducting music lessons, basic skills in planning and conducting musical work in a church congregation, and theological foundational knowledge. The aim of the combined program is to simultaneously qualify students as high school teachers for music and as church musicians.
