About the Program

The goal of this Master’s programme is to deepen the students’ knowledge specifically in selected areas. The subject content is closely related to the material science aspects of nanotechnology and other related subjects. The curriculum consists of five compulsory nanotechnology modules: Nanocharacterisation Lab Work Synthesis / Characterisation Computational Nanoscience Top-Down Nanostructuring Bottom-up Nano-Synthesis/ Self-assembly In addition, the students take one core subject in materials science and two elective modules in natural sciences and technology. The following subjects can be selected as core subject: General Materials Properties Materials Science and Engineering for Metals Glass and Ceramics Surface Science and Corrosion Polymer Materials Materials for Electronics and Energy Technology Biomaterials Materials Simulation Micro- and Nanostructure Research In order to round off the scientific profile, in addition to imparting specialist knowledge, particular emphasis is placed on learning soft skills and a confident approach to scientific project work. The overall structure of the programme provides students with broad career opportunities in (inter-)national industry and academia.
