Molecular Medicine

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Master of Science in Molecular Medicine primarily focuses on biomedical issues and examines those using methods and experimental approaches from the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and physiology. The skills acquired in this programme can be used in biomedical research and medical biotechnology. This degree programme meets the quickly growing need in the field of molecular and biomedical research for scholars with basic knowledge of medicine and natural science. Extensive laboratory experiments, the goal of which is to teach students modern experimental methods, are a major part of this degree programme. In addition, students work at two or three different institutions and thus familiarize themselves with a variety of research methods currently in use. This part of the programme also trains the students' ability to apply the methods about which they have read in the course literature independently. Particular emphasis will be placed on current research results in molecular pathology and molecular pharmacology. A wide range of specialized disciplines allows students to become familiar not only with the work in a clinic (through residencies at intensive care units and in other positions working with patients) but also with specific modern methods in molecular biology for pure and applied research.
