About the Program

The Midwifery Science program is a dual study program that combines theoretical education at JGU with practical training at cooperating institutions. Students learn to professionally support women and families during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and breastfeeding periods. The program includes 4,600 hours of theory and 2,200 hours of practical training. Key areas of study include applied midwifery science, microbiology, virology and hygiene, obstetric competence, gynecology and women's health, prevention and health promotion, physiology of reproduction, pregnancy support, newborn and postpartum care, midwife-led birth, and pathological pregnancy and birth processes. Upon completion, graduates receive both a Bachelor of Science degree and professional certification as a midwife, with automatic professional recognition in the EU/EEA.
