Midwifery

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The midwifery degree programme is dual in nature and consists of a practical part and a university-based part, which is reflected in an alternation of practical and theoretical phases. The practical phases take place at cooperating clinical and non-clinical partners. The dual full-time degree programme comprises a total of 20 modules spread over seven semesters (210 ECTS). The mandatory modules include 15 theory modules, four longer practical modules and the bachelor's module. In the 7th semester, an elective area is offered to deepen subject-specific and/or cross-professional topics. The programme focuses on six guiding principles: midwife as an expert in physiology in the reproductive phase of life, as a primary carer, as an agent in women's and family health, as an agent in prevention and health promotion, in an international context, and continuously developing midwifery scientific expertise.
