About the Program

After completing the degree programme, you will be able to understand and present the cultural diversity of the Middle East. You will learn one of the three modern languages of the region (Turkish, Persian, Arabic) or the historical language, Akkadian. Furthermore, the major enables you to understand the historical background, and to place (and discuss) different contemporary cultures of the Middle East in an academic context. A wide range of compulsory elective modules (e.g. "The World of the Ancient Near East", "Economics of the Middle East" or "Islam and Society") will help you to hone your expertise. An integral part of the combined Bachelor's degree is the MarSkills programme, in which you will acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills. Graduates will find career opportunities in cultural mediation, intercultural training, cultural and academic management, foundation work, political and management consultancy, adult education, migration work, public relations, media and tourism industry, language teaching, consultancy and expert services, as well as the organisation of international events and exhibitions.
