Meteorology and Climate Physics

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The bachelor's degree program in Meteorology and Climate Physics combines a sound basic education in physics with a special focus on the physics of the atmosphere. In the first three semesters, the program is almost identical to the bachelor's degree program in Physics, covering classical experimental and theoretical physics, modern physics, and mathematics, along with introductory courses in meteorology and climatology. From the fourth semester onwards, students deepen their knowledge in key areas of meteorology, including theoretical meteorology, synoptics, numerics and statistics, and circulation and composition of the atmosphere. The program includes a meteorological lab course and a seminar on weather forecasting to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. It prepares students for further master's degree studies and various career paths beyond weather forecasting, such as environmental reports, risk assessment in the insurance industry, energy industry, or numerical simulation.
