Meteorologie [Meteorology]Meteorology

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Meteorology is a study of physics with a special focus on the atmosphere. The program is supported by the Meteorological Institute, which is part of the Excellence Cluster 'Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction' (CliSAP). Through close collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the German Climate Computing Center, the program prepares students for highly interesting and current fields of activity (meteorology, climate and environmental research) and provides fundamental knowledge in mathematics, physics and data processing. The contact between teachers and learners is intensive, and the program offers various opportunities, e.g., to integrate a semester abroad or internship in the USA, Australia or China into the education. The six-semester Bachelor's program is divided into two areas: Introduction (1st and 2nd semester) with courses in meteorology, physics and mathematics, and Specialization (3rd to 6th semester) where the fundamentals are deepened followed by an extensive block of meteorological courses. The program concludes with a Bachelor's thesis and the awarding of the title 'Bachelor of Science'.
