About the Program

The Media Studies program is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach that takes into account the constant expansion of the concept of media. The Bachelor's program is based on three pillars: Media Culture, Communication Science & Media Contexts, and Media Technology. It imparts core competencies in media studies and complements these with broadly distributed basic knowledge in all media-related areas. Students can pursue their own focus areas developed during their studies in a subsequent Master's program or in professional life. The interdisciplinary approach that characterizes both the Bachelor's and Master's programs enables students to overcome boundaries between individual disciplines and form innovative syntheses. The Bachelor's program in Media Studies is conducted in cooperation with TU Braunschweig, bringing together the special potentials of a Technical University and an Art College in an interdisciplinary manner. In the Braunschweig Model, cultural studies, media technology, and communication science approaches combine to create a study profile that is unique in Germany.
