About the Program

The transdisciplinary Master's program combines media education with media studies and provides practical skills and expertise in these fields. The program is aimed at Bachelor's graduates from the fields of media and/or education who want to engage in depth with the social and cultural impacts of media and digitality. Through the combination of media studies and media education components, it is particularly suitable for those who will work in media education practice fields. Research-based learning is at the center of the Master's program through strong project and problem orientation. Against the background of current media, technical and socio-cultural transformation processes, theoretical knowledge on media educational and media scientific questions is conveyed in an interdisciplinary manner in the common focus area. The individual, selectable modules of the elective area also enable an individual profile formation. In addition to didactic and technological aspects, cultural and aesthetic aspects are particularly focused on in order to be able to understand and reflect on the associated lifeworld references scientifically and professionally, and to promote sufficient, scientifically founded design and reflection knowledge for media practical and media educational work.
