About the Program

The Master's program in Media and Communication Science (120 LP) at the University of Halle analyzes the transformations that media and digitalization mean for our social reality. From radio to podcasts, from cinema to streaming to social media, platforms and AI - students examine current media phenomena in close integration of theory, analysis and practice in four focus areas: sound, moving image, production/industry and science communication. The program is aimed at students who have already completed a bachelor's degree with a media or communication science orientation and are seeking a master's level qualification. Students deepen their knowledge and skills in subject-specific fields of work, theories, methods, forms of analysis and argumentation in media and communication science, developing their own research interests. The goal of the program is a scientifically qualified degree that enables problem-oriented analyses of media and their complex social, communicative and cultural processes. The program prepares students for both the academic and media-practical job market.
