About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Media and Communication Science (MuK) aims to familiarize students with the findings of media research, its methods, and their application. The program teaches media analytical skills and basic competencies for creating different media products (print, audio, visual, audiovisual, and digital). Students learn important media theories and practice applying various methods, from film and media analysis to empirical studies on media use and ethnographic approaches to researching production contexts. The program also provides insights into media practice. Whether it's a film project, advertising clip, magazine, or podcast: with professional input from lecturers from academia and practice, students can implement their own projects at several editing stations, in a sound studio, and PC pools. The location at the MMZ (Central German Multimedia Center) creates synergies with more than 20 media companies in the building and the Central German Broadcasting (MDR) nearby.
