About the Program

The interdisciplinary Material Sciences master's programme is designed for students with a bachelor's degree in Material Sciences, Chemistry, Physics and related disciplines. Materials play a key role in many applications and innovations, forming a bridge between different fields of knowledge. The programme enables students to approach and solve complex materials-related problems in an interdisciplinary manner, teaching technical-scientific and conceptual competences about different classes of materials, methods of characterization and analysis. The programme is divided into three learning stages: In the first stage (two semesters), general knowledge in natural and materials science is taught with specialization options in Glass and Optical Materials, Materials for Energy and Environmental Technology, and Biomaterials. The second stage includes advanced internships and introduction to scientific work, with opportunities for a semester abroad. The final stage involves completing a master's thesis. Graduates are qualified to work in material development, manufacturing, quality assurance at research institutes and various industries.
