Materials science means learning to develop materials and systems that set new standards in functionality, lightweight construction, and sustainability. In the "Materials Science and Bionics" study program, you will learn how to shape the future using nature as a model. The program combines disciplines such as Materials Science, Bionics, Engineering sciences, Lightweight construction, Optics and photonics, Polymer sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. In the first four semesters, students learn the basics of natural sciences and engineering and the structural and functional analogies to nature. The fifth semester can be used as an internship or exchange semester. The program offers three specialization profiles: "Lightweight construction and bionics", "Photonics and bionics", and "Bio-inspired materials and polymers".
