About the Program

The Master's program in Mechanical Engineering builds on the Bachelor's program at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. It is also suitable for graduates of related programs to deepen their knowledge and develop a profile. Students can specialize in various areas by selecting elective courses and setting corresponding topics in the seminar and master's thesis. Within a total of eleven elective subjects, students have the opportunity to focus on areas such as: Hydrogen Technology (new from summer semester 2023), Automotive, Biomechanics, Mechatronics, Product Development, Simulation, and Materials Technology. These focus areas reflect the research activities of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering. The program has a standard study period of three semesters (90 ECTS). The first and second semesters primarily convey theoretical content, deepening engineering fundamentals and providing specialized knowledge in elective subjects. The third semester is dedicated to the master's thesis. Graduates have excellent career prospects in regional companies, as well as nationally and internationally. The degree also qualifies for a scientific career and entitles holders to higher civil service positions, making it equivalent to a university degree.
