About the Program

A comprehensive examination of the Christian faith. In the Theology degree programme, students examine the Bible using the historical-critical method, investigate the diverse branches in the history of Christianity, and learn to responsibly give an account of the teachings of the Christian tradition. The program covers five 'classic' disciplines: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology (Dogmatics, Ethics), and Practical Theology (with Religion Teaching). Students acquire fundamental knowledge in these sub-disciplines and learn the methodology for scholarly exploration. The program also includes knowledge about related subjects (Ecumenical Theology, Jewish Studies, Religious Studies, Philosophy). This degree programme aims to have students acquire the competency to make academically sound judgements about the Christian belief. It primarily prepares students for careers as ministers, but also qualifies graduates for jobs in journalism, media, publishing houses, libraries, foundations, human resources, management consultancy, adult education, or academic teaching and research.
