About the Program

The Literary Writing program has been offered at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM) since the winter semester 2017/2018. It is uniquely embedded in the open project study "Mediale Künste" (Media Arts) in the interdisciplinary teaching environment of the art school. The focus is on intensive work on students' own texts. Writers and teachers of the genres prose, poetry and drama as well as the areas of screenplay, radio play and essay accompany the work of the students, who are encouraged to continuously develop their texts both in seminars and through individual supervision in one-on-one conversations. The practice-oriented teaching is supplemented by the teaching of literary and cultural-theoretical foundations as well as by readings from tradition and the present.
