About the Program

Life Science Engineering combines knowledge from engineering sciences with life sciences. The focus is on the development and implementation of modern biotechnology processes to produce pharmaceutical and biotech products. The program provides the necessary knowledge in engineering and life sciences. Students learn what happens in a cell and how to genetically modify it. With a solid understanding of scientific relationships and technical facilities and processes, graduates are able to develop and produce life science products on an industrial scale and with high quality. This includes medications, as well as products for the food and cosmetics industry. The curriculum includes analytics, biochemistry, process engineering, molecular biology, genetic engineering, and environmental protection. Students work in laboratories on the development and implementation of experiments and gain insights into the industry through laboratory internships, professional internships, excursions, and participation in research projects. The program is structured over six semesters, with the final semester including a three-month industry or research internship. The curriculum covers natural and engineering sciences fundamentals, computer science, legal and business frameworks, and soft skills.
