About the Program

In the Master's program 'Teaching for Secondary Level I and II (District Schools and Gymnasiums)', students study Education and two of the following teaching subjects: Labor Studies/Technology, Fine Arts, Biology, Chemistry, German, English, Protestant Religion, French, Geography, History, Greek, Computer Science, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Russian, Social Sciences, Spanish, and Sports. The core internship is integrated into the Master's phase, which extends over two semesters and includes two block phases totaling nine weeks during the lecture-free period. The program prepares students for teaching careers in gymnasiums or district schools (or comprehensive schools). Before this profession can be practiced, preparatory service must be completed, which lasts 18 months in Hamburg and concludes with the state examination.
