About the Program

This major provides a comprehensive study of linguistics, enabling students to develop proficiency in all of the subdisciplines of modern linguistics. The combination of linguistic and vocational or application-oriented modules provides qualifications for numerous professions in the field of communication. The main focus is to provide linguistic knowledge that enables analysis of language and communication across a wide range of disciplines and settings. Students can expand their knowledge across four subjects: linguistics and conversation research, text linguistics and pragmatics, language history and variation, and psycho- and neurolinguistics. An integral part of the combined Bachelor's degree is the MarSkills programme, which helps students acquire valuable, future-oriented skills. Graduates qualify for numerous professions in communication including public relations, management consultancy, intercultural communication, speech training, publishing work, marketing and consulting, research, and with further education can pursue careers in speech therapy, language teaching, and forensic phonetics.
