About the Program

At the University of Bremen the subject art-media-aesthetic education is taught and studied within the context of an MA-programme. It combines the core sciences art studies, media studies and art as well as media education with artistic-aesthetical practice to an integrative study programme. The scientific discourse with artistic and medial products and processes in a historical and contemporary context is combined with issues of its mediation and artistic practice. Central component of this programme is the practical semester at a school that is completed in the second semester. Here, the student gains practical experience in teaching his/her chosen subjects and educational sciences in general. The MA programme aims to expand the students' knowledge and proficiencies in art studies, media studies, art education and art/media practice. Different methodical approaches for the independent development and mediation of subject matters are taught. Essential for the master programme is the combination of specialist, didactic and practical contents and methods from the field of art-media-aesthetic education. The Master of Education intensively prepares for the future profession as art teacher.
