KulturvermittlungCultural Mediation

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's program in Cultural Mediation qualifies students to analytically explore cultural education work regarding current educational issues and potentials (e.g., participation equity, diversity, digitalization, sustainability) and to develop concepts for designing and conveying educational offerings. Cultural mediation and cultural education are understood as heterogeneous fields of practice and research in both socio-political and cultural-pedagogical dimensions. During the program, students expand their personal cultural experiences in receptive and productive terms and professionalize their cultural and artistic judgment. They learn to reflect on and analyze cultural content and artistic processes from their complex contexts, and to design, organize, and publicize creative concepts and formats for different social groups. Students acquire both aesthetic-design and pedagogical-didactic competencies, as well as educational science expertise to address cultural education processes in a research-oriented manner. This is the prerequisite for a possible subsequent doctorate, for which the Master's program qualifies.
