About the Program

The Master's program in Communication and Media Studies focuses on the scientific analysis of media. Students learn how media, people, and society influence each other and examine these interactions in their own research projects. The program has a research-oriented approach and combines both social science and humanities perspectives. Students gain insights into qualitative and quantitative media use and media effects research, as well as societal and historical analysis of (new) media. They also learn to analyze media such as film, television, streaming, and social media in terms of dramaturgy and reception aesthetics.
