Kommunikations- und MedienwissenschaftCommunication and Media Studies

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Communication and Media Studies focuses on the analysis of media (content) and its use. Throughout the program, students learn about the characteristics, functions, and historical development of various media. They explore how people use media and the effects of media use on them. Students learn about the narrative patterns through which media tell their stories and become familiar with the most important research and analysis methods. In addition to acquiring theoretical foundations, students have the opportunity to apply these in practical seminars and internships. The program is one of the few where students acquire both communication science knowledge (analysis of media and their effects on society) and media science knowledge (analysis of media content). As it is a secondary subject program, it must be combined with another primary subject.
