About the Program

IWU students can participate in the following English-taught seminar, which is offered by experts from the respective departments at the University of Kassel: German History, Literature and Art from Goethe to the Weimar Republic (45 contact hours, 5 ECTS credits) In this seminar, students take a closer look at the "Age of Goethe", the end of the 19th century (Nietzsche), and the revolutionary art movement (Bauhaus and Expressionism). Through excursions and group activities, students explore how contemporary German culture has been shaped by historical developments over the past 200 years. German Language Course (30 contact hours, 3 ECTS credits) In addition to the academic seminars in the respective disciplines, all students attend intensive German language courses. These courses are offered at three different levels (from beginning to advanced levels). Participants will also have plenty of opportunities to practise their language skills while staying with a host family.
