International Economics

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Master's programme in International Economics equips students to explore questions related to international trade, inequality, tariffs, and climate change through their own research. Students engage with contemporary academic publications, develop research ideas, and learn to devise solutions for practical challenges in the global economy using empirical methods. The programme emphasizes language skills with most courses conducted in English. An overseas semester at one of the partner universities is required to broaden horizons and enhance intercultural competence. Students can focus their studies on one of four fields: International Trade and Production, Development Economics, Behavioral and Institutional Economics, or Quantitative Methods of Economic Analysis. The programme is characterized by both research proximity and application orientation, teaching students to solve complex problems using scientific methods. A double degree programme with the University of Groningen is also available, allowing students to earn both an M.Sc. in International Economics from Göttingen and an M.Sc. in International Economics and Sustainable Development from Groningen.
