About the Program

The Master's program "Indology and Tibetology" is fundamentally research-oriented, but also provides knowledge with practical and professional relevance. The program imparts in-depth knowledge in the subjects of Indology and Tibetology in particularly relevant research and application fields. This includes the ability to independently work with primary sources in one of the languages of the chosen specialization, the qualification for theoretical-reflexive research in the area of the chosen profile, as well as for argumentative scientific discussion in various cultural contexts. In common cross-sectional modules, students are taught the general necessary methodological foundations for later professional practice, consulting, or research. Additionally, students specialize by choosing a profile at a high scientific level in one of the following four areas: Indology with focus on Sanskrit, Indology with focus on Tamil Studies, Indology with focus on Yoga Studies, or Tibetology.
