Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's course "History and Culture" is a consecutive study programme based on relevant historical and cultural Bachelor's degrees. It is a 4-semester multi-subject Master's course that is strongly research-oriented. The program provides a framework for combining a variety of historically, philologically and culturally-oriented study subjects from faculties 03 and 04, such as Protestant and Catholic Theology, History, Eastern European History, Classical Archaeology, Greek and Latin Philology, Art History, Art Education, Music, and Philosophy. Students choose one major subject (50 credit points) and one ancillary subject (40 credit points), with the thesis (30 credit points) written only in the major subject. Within this framework, students extend their historical, critical-hermeneutic, philological and rhetorical linguistic competences acquired in preceding BA studies.
