Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

Historical Studies helps us understand how we became what we are. The program offers a deeper and critical understanding of our cultural environment and the perspectives and developments of today's society. Students learn historical work through critical comparative reading of research opinions and by working with sources. The study is divided into three major epochs: Ancient History (covering over 1,500 years from the first written sources to the end of antiquity), Medieval History (5th to 15th century), and Modern History. Students acquire specialized historical knowledge as well as didactic, social, and communicative skills. The program includes a mandatory four-week internship and a two-month bachelor's thesis. Graduates can pursue further studies in master's programs or enter careers in public relations, cultural work, publishing, media, documentation, tourism, marketing, or in archives, libraries, and museums.
