About the Program

The master's degree program in Greek and Latin Literary and Cultural Studies focuses on analyzing Greek and Latin texts from linguistic, stylistic and aesthetic angles and interpreting them in their cultural context. Students will acquire an in-depth knowledge of authors, genres and periods of ancient, medieval and early modern literature and of phenomena and processes associated with the history of literary reception and influence. The research-oriented nature of the degree program is reflected in its seminars and, in particular, its colloquia, where students will discuss their research and will develop and present their own ideas. They will also have the opportunity to gain an insight into current projects and debates in research and make an active contribution to academic discourse at regular guest lectures and symposia with both an international and an interdisciplinary emphasis.
