Good Governance - RechtsgestaltungGood Governance - Legal Design

Master of Laws (L.L.M.)

About the Program

The 'Good Governance - Rechtsgestaltung' program addresses the increasing complexity of legal issues that demand global answers. It focuses on legislation and private legal design, particularly in international and transnational legal relationships. As a research-oriented Master's program with a primarily legal-political orientation, it offers various areas of specialization: legislation in state and administration, private legal design in civil and corporate law, and legal design for the international sphere (international law and transnational trade and investment law). The program provides fundamental methods and techniques for legal design activities, offering both scientific and practical additional qualifications that expand the legal horizon and prepare students for legal design activities in all institutions. The program is designed for one year (2 semesters) and comprises 60 credit points. In the winter semester, students choose two out of four seminars in the elective compulsory area: Legal Design in Public Law (State and Administration), Legal Design and Private Law (Civil and Corporate Law), Legal Design in European and International Law, and Argumentation Theory. In the summer semester, students write their Master's thesis.
