About the Program

This program focuses on teaching history for special education. The basic studies include lectures, proseminars, and exercises that convey aspects of social, economic, and social history. Historical methods are applied to analyze and interpret sources and place them in a global historical context. In the main studies, specialized knowledge is acquired and deepened, especially in the main seminars. Another main part of the study is history didactics, which deals with the teachability and learnability of historical thinking in school and non-school contexts. History didactic training is provided in seminars, lectures, and school practical exercises. The successful study concludes with the 1st State Examination, enabling students to enter the teaching internship (Referendariat) but also offering the opportunity for doctoral studies. After the 2nd State Examination (completion of the teaching internship), there is the possibility of entering the school service, but other professional fields are also conceivable, such as work in textbook publishing, educational counseling centers, or authorities.
