German Studies/Allemand Bachelor of ArtsGerman Studies/Allemand

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

This is a German-French dual degree program where students study both in Germany and France. Students choose German Studies alongside French as part of the Mainz-Dijon integrated study programs, spending three semesters at JGU Mainz and three semesters at the Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE) in Dijon. Upon completion, students receive both a German Bachelor of Arts and a French Licence degree. The German Studies program covers both linguistics and literature, allowing students to explore the entire spectrum and choose their personal focus. Literature studies analyze German-language works from various epochs, while linguistics examines the German language in past and present. During the study abroad semesters, students gain a different perspective by studying German as a foreign language philology in France, where literature and linguistics are complemented by German history and cultural studies.
