Master German + English Mathematics & Natural Sciences

Geological Sciences

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Geological Sciences examine the physical and chemical processes within Earth and on its surface, including the study of natural resources and risks to habitable areas. Geological Sciences are an applied arm of the natural sciences, distinguished by their links to Earth history and the life sciences. The analysis and prediction of geological processes require the ability to reconstruct past events through the study of rocks, minerals, and fossils. The program promotes an interdisciplinary approach through four main areas: Geodynamics & Geomaterials, Geophysics, Hydrogeology and Paleontology. Most focus areas combine teaching with research on geohazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, climate change, biodiversity) and resources (water, hydrocarbons, natural gas, rare earths, ores, building materials, etc.).
