About the Program

Inclusion is an important keyword in today's society; to enable deaf and hearing-impaired people to live in the middle of society, the training of interpreters is essential. The Bachelor's program in Sign Language Interpreting provides solid knowledge of German Sign Language (DGS) as well as practical interpreting competence in German and DGS. Further study goals are the acquisition of translation science expertise, knowledge about sign languages and deaf communities, and the acquisition of scientific competence to critically reflect on this expertise. Unlike other Bachelor's programs, Sign Language Interpreting is studied without a minor subject and cannot itself be chosen as a minor subject within other BA programs.
