About the Program

Romance Studies is the study of the Romance languages, their literatures, and cultures. In the study of French, the focus is on the French-speaking world. Graduates of the Master of Education degree programme with French as an extension subject are qualified to teach at Germany's highest secondary school level (gymnasiale Oberstufe). The degree programme provides students with a combination of comprehensive specialised subject knowledge in the areas of literature, linguistics, and cultural studies as well as specialised didactic skills that will aid them in teaching, reinforcing, and deepening their students' language skills. The specialised language modules comprise 90 credits; the specialised didactics modules comprise 15 credits. An additional 15 credits are provided by the Master's thesis in the extension subject.
