About the Program

The Master of Education (MEd) in French follows the Bachelor of Education (BEd) and complements teacher education for Lehramt Gymnasium. The program consists of literary, linguistic and practical modules. Literary modules teach critical analysis and reflection on French literature and culture from the Middle Ages to the present across all genres. Linguistic modules cover the structure and history of the French language, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language acquisition, and French varieties. Practical courses improve French language skills through regional and cultural studies, oral and written language skills, listening comprehension, translation and grammar. The program also includes didactics and education classes. After earning the MEd, graduates can be admitted to the teacher traineeship ("Referendariat").
