About the Program

The course 'Foto/Buch' (Photo/Book) focuses on exploring the photo book as an independent medium and work. Initially, the course examines significant photo books that have sustainably shaped the medium. Students analyze and develop photographic narrative structures and image sequences. The course investigates how the photo book, as a location-independent medium, opens up special narrative and aesthetic possibilities that differ from classic wall presentations. The content, aesthetic, and formal relationships of photographic images are central, especially the significance of sequence, image pairs, and the design of a coherent visual implementation of the connected series. The course is practice-oriented and also covers binding and printing techniques, the selection of suitable papers, and the presentation of finished books.
