About the Program

The Master's degree programme in Environmental Sciences focuses on the interrelationships within ecosystems and the interaction between humans and nature. Students study processes in ecosystems, how substances react and transport, and their environmental effects. The program is research and practice-oriented, with a focus on uncovering and solving problems arising from human intervention in nature. Students gain in-depth knowledge in applied natural sciences and can specialize in two of six environmental compartments: Applied Hydrology and Water Management, Atmosphere and boundary layer processes, Biodiversity, Soil and land use, Modeling Flow and Transport in the Critical Zone, or Environmental (Geo)chemistry and Ecotoxicology. The program includes numerous excursions and field placements to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
