About the Program

The Electrical and Information Technology program forms the basis for modern systems and applications such as smartphones, robots, wireless sensor networks, smart grids, electric cars, Industry 4.0, or Internet of Things (IoT). The Electrical Engineering/Information Technology PLUS Pedagogy program at Offenburg University provides fundamentals, methods, and expertise to understand such systems and developments and to help shape them as an engineer in the future. In addition to engineering expertise in these fields, the program, in cooperation with the University of Education in Freiburg, also provides pedagogical content that qualifies graduates for teaching at vocational schools. The first three semesters focus on foundational knowledge and orientation. In the fourth semester, students choose between two specializations: Automation Technology or Communication Technology. The program includes intensive laboratory phases, a practical semester, and the opportunity to work on current research topics. Teaching and research are closely linked in the program.
