Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The Bachelor programme mediates the necessary basics for research and understanding complex ecosystems. It is research-oriented and focuses on practical training in scientific methods, field and laboratory work, and data analysis and modelling. Most of the teaching modules include practical work, field and laboratory courses or seminars in addition to the lectures, providing hands-on practical training. An understanding of ecosystem processes requires a detailed view of their molecular basis, so students gain diverse and advanced knowledge in natural sciences and related disciplines. The program structure consists of five modules per semester (6 credits each) in the first three semesters. The fourth semester includes four lab/field modules to learn essential methods using common field trials and a module on Scientific Writing to prepare for the B.Sc. Thesis. The fifth semester is an elective semester where students can choose practical training abroad or stay in Göttingen with modules taught by international visiting professors. The final semester consists of two modules, a B.Sc. Project involving eight departments, and the B.Sc. Thesis (12 credits).
