About the Program

The Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is focused on the science behind professional work with children and families and how to apply it in actual practice. The program connects newly learned skills with existing experience to provide sound competences in early childhood education. Studies are divided into six areas: general basics, childhood education and didactics, psychology and health, academic writing, professional orientation, and advanced studies/individual area of specialisation. The program has an aesthetic focus, where sensual experiences are the starting point of human education and development. It prepares students for careers in management functions and childhood research, particularly in day care centres and child/youth welfare facilities working with children up to age ten.
